Pastor Polly Pulley of Spirit of Faith Church and Soup Kitchen is the recipient of the 2020 Blue Diamond Community Service Award from First National Bank of Arenzville.
Kai Schnitker, president of First National Bank, said Pulley has been an active volunteer for years and under her direction the soup kitchen provides a warm, healthy meal to those in need Monday through Thursday, yearround. She estimates that more than 7,500 meals were served in 2020. Pulley also oversees the programming of the Soup Kitchen and Faith Center. Services include tutoring and after school program activities for elementary ages.
“This year’s award recognizes an amazing force for good in our community, Pastor Polly Pulley,” Schnitker said. “We know that no one who is doing volunteer work is actively seeking an award. That’s what makes this so enjoyable … we get to shine a spotlight on great service and the people getting this recognition are sometimes even surprised to be noticed.”
She was presented with a commemorative award statuette and had her name placed on a perpetual plaque displayed at the bank. A total of $500 was donated to two different charitable causes as designated by Pulley.
