The First National Bank of Arenzville has named Karen Sibert of Jacksonville as the winner of the first Blue Diamond Community Service Award.
The award was created to recognize outstanding volunteers in the bank’s service area and the work the volunteer has done throughout the year.
Sibert is the community nutrition educator at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville. Her volunteer and community activities include serving on the board of both the New Directions Warming and Cooling Center and the Bob Freesen YMCA. She acts as secretary for each of those organizations. Sibert also assists with donations and distribution for the mobile food pantry. She is council secretary, Sunday School teacher and nursery attendant at Faith Lutheran Church, where she also helps with the annual soup luncheon and delivers Doorbell Dinners.
First National Bank President Kai Schnitker said the “Blue Diamond service is about being the best … it’s about doing more than what is expected and delivering a truly outstanding level of service. We felt there are those working in area businesses, programs, churches and charities who deserve some recognition for going above and beyond. That’s why we created the [award].”
Sibert will receive a Jacksonville Chamber Check in the amount of $100. She has also elected that a $100 donation be made in her name to the Jacksonville Food Pantry. Sibert was presented with a commemorative Blue Diamond Award and her name will be placed on an annually updated plaque displayed at the First National Bank of Arenzville.
