Welcome to the NEW First National Bank of Arenzville website!

For more than 140 years, The First National Bank of Arenzville has provided stable, trusted banking services to its customers in West Central Illinois.

A group of local shareholders founded the People’s Bank of Arenzville in 1882. The bank was privately held until 1908 when it was granted a national charter and renamed The First National Bank of Arenzville. Many of the bank’s current stockholders and customers are descendants of the original shareholders.

The stock market crash of 1929 and the resulting Great Depression forced many banks to close. However, sound management and loyal customer support allowed The First National Bank of Arenzville to weather the financial storm and remain open except during a 1933 government-mandated bank moratorium.

The First National Bank of Arenzville has traditionally served agricultural clients throughout the region and continues to do so. Seeking to diversify and grow its client base, a branch in South Jacksonville was added in 2000.

The success of the South Jacksonville branch led the bank’s leadership to embark on another expansion in 2009. A branch at the corner of Massey Lane and Morton Ave. in Jacksonville opened in September of that year.

As other local banks have changed ownership or closed, The First National Bank of Arenzville continues to offer its customers the stability of a hometown leadership team, invested in and committed to the success of our community.
